Roy Money

I grew up in the rural south and the woods were central to my childhood.  One of my first creative inspirations was Elliot Porter’s In Wildness is the Preservation of the World. Later on I completed a Master of Fine Arts in Photography.

There seems to be a kind of elemental creativity that animates the workings of nature and provides amazing forms and mystery in its wake.   The natural environment is my typical subject matter because of the many opportunities to lose myself in the process of perception, not unlike listening to captivating music, but in this case I try to find expression for the uniqueness of that moment when affinity is accompanied by expanse.  To transmute the experience into a compelling physical form is to taste the thrill of wonder and perhaps convey a sense of wholeness in a world that often seems fragmented.

To live in a nature preserve for several weeks and explore the terrain at different times and conditions is a unique and exciting opportunity. I would love to spend extended time at Weir Farm and give my undivided attention to producing a portfolio of memorable images of the landscape.
