Angi Shearstone
The Weir Residency in February 2016 opened many doors for me and my career. I finished over thirty paintings, rediscovered my love of oils, and began a new path towards landscapes. In the months that followed, I sold many paintings, booked several shows, and generated much interest in my art.
But life is full of the unexpected, and career trajectories are rarely a straight line. Following a car accident, my plans for an ongoing series of oil landscapes were cut short when I found myself without the necessary studio space to continue oil painting.
For my 2019 Weir Residency, I intend to return to oil painting, and resume painting the line of landscapes I began in 2016. Additionally, I plan to create some smaller watercolor landscapes along the way, as I get this direction of landscape painting moving forward again.
