The Artist in Residence program (AIR) selects twelve artists to live and work at Weir Farm each year. To date, 115 artists from throughout the U.S., as well as Tunisia, Germany, Australia, India and The Netherlands have participated in the AIR program. Visual artists apply for one month residencies in all media and diverse artistic points of view from traditional to experimental. The facilities and utilities are provided free of charge.
The AIR program was initiated in 1998 and is already acknowledged as a unique opportunity for visual artists. A Save America’s Treasures Grant was awarded to the Weir Farm Art Center in July 2005 for the rehabilitation of an historic structure on site as the new AIR studio space. The Center matched the grant through our gala fundraiser, “A Night in Tunisia” on June 10, 2006. The new studio will enable the program to evolve and will position the Center to more fully participate in regional and national art arenas and to offer more art programs to the community.
Consult AIR Application for program guidelines.
